California's Attorney General. Standing up for all Californians and fighting injustices as the People's Attorney. Official Bluesky account.

The Trump Administration continues to try to bully states for choosing to use their limited resources to promote public safety rather than assist in federal civil immigration enforcement—this time going after New York’s Green Light law. As part of a multistate coalition, we’re defending it.

The Trump Admin is attempting to roll back rules requiring companies to disclose climate risk information to investors. We’re urging the SEC to keep these crucial requirements. Amid an affordability crisis, Americans deserve complete info to protect their investments—including retirement savings.

Attorney General Bonta Urges SEC to Keep Climate Disclosure Regulations, Ensure Investments, Americans' Retirement Accounts Are Protected

Rescinding the rules would not eliminate climate risk; it would only leave investors in the dark OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta this week joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general in...

Since President Trump returned to office, California has been under attack. We’ve led the way in fighting back—filing 82 lawsuits, protecting more than $207 billion in funding for the Golden State, and defending constitutional rights. I’m incredibly proud of my team. California isn't backing down.

82 Lawsuits and Counting California DOJ has protected an estimated $207.1 billion in funding for California

For the 3rd time, President Trump is attempting to illegally impose tariffs that would make life more expensive for American families—and for the 3rd time we’re taking him to court. Tariffs are taxes. The American people shouldn’t have to shoulder costs from the President’s failed economic policy.

Attorney General Bonta Sues Trump Administration for a Third Time over Its Illegal Tariffs

“President Trump is so intent on raising the cost of living for Americans that he is willing to break law after law after law to do so.”

The Trump Admin’s attempt to raid TANF data is illegal. We’ve stopped Trump from abusing and misusing people’s personal information before, and with this lawsuit, we intend to again.

At a time when so many families are struggling to keep up with rising costs, the Trump Admin is undermining the ACA, pushing forward a policy that will make health insurance more expensive and less accessible.

Alongside 19 AGs, we’re supporting Boulder’s efforts to hold Big Oil accountable for misleading the public and worsening the climate crisis. States have the right to turn to their own laws to seek accountability and justice, and we urge the Supreme Court to preserve that right.

We’re again suing the Trump Admin over its renewed illegal efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act and make insurance more expensive and harder to obtain for millions of Americans.   When families are already facing rising costs, they cannot afford to pay more for coverage that gives them less.

Attorney General Bonta Co-Leads Lawsuit Challenging Trump Administration’s Effort to Expand Catastrophic Health Insurance Plans and Again Undermine Affordable Care Act Protections

“Once again, this Administration is moving in the wrong direction by adopting harmful provisions that push consumers into bare-bones plans and strip away critical protections.”

Our communities rely on social safety net programs like CalFresh to put food on the table and provide for their families. The Trump Admin’s cuts aren’t “making America great” again — they’re hurting our most vulnerable and forcing states, local govts, and nonprofits to shoulder the costs.

'It's like jumping through hoops': CalFresh cuts push L.A. families and farmers to the brink

One year since H.R. 1 reduced funding for food stamps, residents across Los Angeles County are starting to feel the brunt of the effects.

Californians: Be wary of Health Care Sharing Ministries. They may promise to help cover medical costs, but they don't offer the same protections as Covered California plans when it matters most.

When comparing a HCSM plan with a traditional health insurance plan:

Read the disclosures and member guidelines carefully. HCSMs often use language closely mimicking traditional health insurance to confuse consumers.

Understand what’s excluded. HCSMs often have coverage limits or exclusions for pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits, including mental healthcare, pregnancy or maternity care, and preventive services.

Consider your financial risk. Think about whether you could afford significant medical bills if they were only partially covered or not covered at all.
