The US dropped a 2,000 pound bomb on a family’s house in Iran, killing a husband, wife, and their two-year-old child. The two other children were pulled out of the rubble alive. One of the largest bombs in the US arsenal dropped on a home for absolutely no reason.

CDU's plan to defeat the far right: raise the retirement age, loosen labor laws, "goad Germans into working more". In Germany as in the US the center is working as hard as it can to lose.

These include efforts to shore up public pensions by raising the national retirement age, and a modest tax cut for middle-income families, offset by marginally higher taxes on high earners. The package also cuts regulations, loosens some labor laws and generally tries to goad Germans into working more.

This Algerian Arabic word is cognate with the everyday Spanish word chancla "slipper"—fun to find an Arabic word from Spanish rather than the reverse—and one source claims the Spanish word is ultimately from Parthian(!!)

Algerian word: يَتْشَنقْ /jatʃanəg/ In the west of the country, it means “to complain, to wine," and the east (Constantine) it is "to procrastinate; to drag one's feet.” Apparently, it is from Andalusi Arabic.
