Visiting DC it’s apparent why all the tech bros are obsessed with building “institutions” now. These buildings are testaments to immense power. However unlike software they came at an immense human-capital cost. But building something that endures seemingly forever is a certain kinda of sexy.

In 1962, Manfred Schroeder published a paper proposing a reverb built from comb and allpass filters.
The 1962 Algorithm Behind Every Algorithmic Reverb You've Ever Used
In 1962, Manfred Schroeder published a paper proposing a reverb built from comb and allpass filters. It sounded kind of bad and that's exactly why the sixty years of attempts to fix it gave us every algorithmic reverb that exists today.

Just ordered a run of 2OPFM modules. Continuing to round out the SuperSynthesis line as chips become available. Will be on puget.audio later today for pre-orders. Shipping in 1-2 weeks. Great eurorack FM voice. 6HP

Interesting thread. It’s got a pro-ish AI lens. Personally I’m anti-AI music, but from a DSP perspective it is really hard to tell what is generated versus not. So this helps separate the chaff from the wheat, which hopefully will help real artists. www.reddit.com/r/Suno/s/TGK...

Month Offline Seattle is gonna be a blast. August is probably full. But there will definitely be more cohorts.

I love and hate beads: github.com/gastownhall/... Been using it for a while. But when it came out Dolt had so many issues just on the top level commands. Exporting to .jsonl is messy. And it's really easy to de-sync between agents. Haven't really played much with Gastown proper. That's next.

So just realized an issue with SynthID verification. Alice publishes photograph A. Mallory takes A and passes it to Gemini, asking it to generate the same image, creating image M. M is now SynthID and looks essentially the same as A. Mallory then spreads the fake photo, creating confusion.
"And no, AI isn't perfect. But Christ, anybody who points to the problems at AI had better be looking in the mirror and pointing at themselves at the same time. Because it's not like natural intelligence is always all that great either." zzzing!

This is why I'm using the best Open Source models I can, even if I have to pay-per-token/API use for GPUs Eventually the GPU costs will come down enough for most users to locally host. Maybe folks with crowdsource inference in the meantime But using the best you can backup/save is the safest bet
The price is wrong: AI cost calculation has to consider task completion rates, not just token costs
This must mean that vibe-coded UIs were common in the human ancestral environment
it's interesting how instantaneously you can clock a vibe-coded UI
Hatred of AI now reaching the level of cultural consensus that becomes attractive to advertisers
This has been kinda bearable on my T9 keyboard: leaf.saw.dog Kinda backwards trying to use it with Whisper. A QWERTY slider or blackberry + this would kill.

Just found this: currents.is The Pinterest experience but you log in with your PDS. I've had my PDS running for like 3 hours. It's miles better than setting up a Lemmy.

Ended up using CHOWDAH BUCKETS as my module packaging this week. The U.S. Chefs store was the only place with the right sized containers at the right price. Rebooted Super Synthesis modules - We have them at puget.audio and hopefully they will be on shelves at some retail outfits soon.
I've been using Postiz to try and unify my social posting/scheduling. But they don't support Bluesky with custom PDS... github.com/gitroomhq/po... Unfortunate. I have Claude Code working on a fix now. But it's sat for a while. Postiz does support ListMonk. I guess I'm setting that up next.
