The magical continuum of cinema means a film can exist that contains both Cartoon Peter Lorre and John Cena.
Also not a lawyer. But I am an engineer. This decision contradicted itself multiple times, incl the responsibilities of engineers. It ignored data & tells us to design dangerous infrastructure, yet it doesn't assign responsibility for the consequences. It contradicts the obligations of our license.
I'm not a lawyer. But reading through the decision the courts seemed to be arguing that governments don't need evidence to pass laws—even if it will put lives at risk. So having made that point, why keep arguing that, well actually, the experts are wrong and bike lanes are bad for traffic?
Biking home from a Toronto Blue Jays game or concert at the Rogers Centre just got safer, thanks to a new westbound cycle track installed on Bremner Boulevard between Spadina Avenue and Navy Wharf Court! Visit toronto.ca/cycling to learn more about cycling in Toronto.
The City of Toronto installed the Portland Street two-way bikeway and road safety improvements this summer. Initial data collection reveals increased pedestrian and cycling volumes, and decreased motor vehicle volumes. Visit toronto.ca/portlanddanleckie to learn more.
Portland-Dan Leckie Cycling Connections
Use this map to determine how to best navigate where you need to go. The City of Toronto has installed a cycling route along Portland Street – across the Puente De Luz pedestrian/cycling bridge – and down Dan Leckie Way. These changes are part of the City’s Cycling Network Plan to improve road safety and […]

Spend the next few years upgrading the bike lanes we have (Danforth, Shuter, Richmond, Adelaide, Davenport, Woodbine, etc.) and then get back at it under a new provincial regime. Empires end, but this type of progress only goes in one direction.
Arguing against bike lanes is arguing against, like, the law of gravity. spacing.ca/toronto/2025...
OP-ED: Taking another look at who's using bike lanes - Spacing Toronto
Toronto’s bike lanes have always been about more than just cycling – they are about building a city that moves smarter, cleaner, and safer. As someone who currently rides a pedal-assist e-bike, both f...

Gambit is a lame character. Bishop is an awesome character.
Okay, I'm genuinely throwing this out to people: what are your mildly shit-stirring takes on X-Men comics and characters?
I was in an absolute stupor watching The Wrong Girls, a film that feels like it's 12 hours long. My review: brieftake.com/the-wrong-gi...
The Wrong Girls Review - Brief Take
There's some novelty to the idea of Kristen Stewart in a stoner comedy. Except The Wrong Girls isn't very funny, or entertaining, at all.

Water pressure issues at Metro Hall. Anarchy on the upper floors if this is not resolved by the afternoon.
Once again, TIFF doesn't really get going until TIFFr does its 2026 update.
Where is all this money going? Why is it needed? How do we get costs under control? Questions!
Can't do a subway for less than $30B. Can't retrofit our existing subways for ATC and more frequency for less than $9B each. Can't get a streetcar to Ookwemin for less than $2.5B. Buses over $2 million a pop. Can't even dream of building an island streetcar platform or replacing a broken sensor.
On Richmond, west of Augusta, the laneway is for pedestrians only. The Unseen Hand made sure.
This game should have a warning label like they put on cigarettes.

Many solutions to the parking "problem" in Toronto. Which one have we chosen? The answer may surprise you! (It will not surprise you.)
My @thestar.com column on Toronto’s unfair proposed parking permit changes that favour house owners over people in apartments. As it ever was in Toronto. Maybe we should stop subsidizing the storage of private property in public space.
It's an enraging and sad situation, but it would be funny if a WNBA called Kanter's bluff, drafted him, and we got to watch the players just absolutely dance on him.
I will admit that Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma wasn't quite for me, but it's still very much something to see and consider. My review: brieftake.com/teenage-sex-...
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma Review - Brief Take
Despite its obvious ambition, there's a clever sense of economy to writer-director Jane Schoenbrun's new film, even if sometimes feels like sexy homework.

How else are we supposed to unpack the news that Taste of Little Jamaica and Afrofest were both cancelled, but Taste of the Danforth is getting federal funding in support? toronto.citynews.ca/2026/08/05/f...
