Amanda@akmcclen.bsky.social · yesterdayAlso, and this is going to make some people very uncomfortable, it is okay to get rid of your disintegrating Bible. The Word of God endures forever and does not need that particular iteration of the physical printed text to do so.
Some of the branches of both the city and county public libraries in Houston got serious flooding during Hurricane Harvey and people still freaked out when they threw out their very waterlogged, moldy, mildewy books. People are weird about physical books for some reason.
chilton 👁@chiltonm.bsky.social · 3d agoGentle reminder for all that if you have books that are water damaged, crawling with bugs, physically broken, or giving you travel advice for a country that hasn’t existed since the 90s, you can safely throw them away, you don’t need to make them your local thrift store’s problem.
I'm in my 40s, I could use some artificial constitution and dexterity at this point

This is good. I grew up in a megachurch youth group that I think was mostly well-intentioned, and there were a few years where they actually cared more about discipleship than just growing numbers.

I saw a post that said if Erling Haaland had been born in the US he'd be playing wide receiver in the pros and yeah, I can totally see that The US has so many sports to funnel athletic people into besides soccer--like I wonder if we'd have more of a soccer culture if that wasn't the case
