My mom stayed with my dad for 15 years. I watched him hit her on many occasions as a child. He punched a hole through the wall next to her head once, and she had a miscarriage that week. Fear keeps you in the cycle. Miller might murder her, she likely fears that.
Anyone who has worked with domestic violence victims know the answer to this is too often yes.
