Climate Centre@climatecentreuk.bsky.social · 2y agoTime for some good news 💗 Applications for the UK government's heat pump grant are up 54% from last year, and February was the second best payout month ever! @drrhidewreede.bsky.social from warmur.co.uk
My heart bleeds for OpenAI - how terrible that DeepSeek may have used their data to train a model without them receiving a penny in return 😂
Hunter Biden is a felon convicted by a jury of his peers. But he’s also incredibly likely to be used as a political football in a future hyper weaponised US judicial system. 💯 I would have done the same as Jo
Unless your job is “media”, I don’t think anyone should be expected / mandated by an employer to maintain an active presence on X
Kathy Dodworth@dodgington.bsky.social · 2y agoOne thing missing from this is that, to urge people stay on X to fight the good fight, is to urge that they stay in horrendous toxic environment (for many it’s for work) regardless of effect on wellbeing. It’s as much workplace safety issue. Don’t guilt ppl to stay www.politico.com/news/magazin...
Nine new satellites detecting methane just arrived in space. Finding (and then punishing) methane leakers is one of the fastest ways to reduce global warming. www.ghgsat.com/en/newsroom/...
Hello Bluesky! I'm seeking research, evaluation, case studies on heat pumps in social/public housing - with focus on solutions (service/engagement/policy/technical/etc.) to accelerate uptake + improve tenant experience. Is there anything you recommend I look at? Suggestions and shares appreciated!
World beating UK, energy prices nearly double anywhere else. Also the UK, every energy firm making 4-10x profits. I wonder if they are related?
My annual Nothing-to-see-here tweet: just a heat pump drawing less electricity than a toaster, keeping our home comfortable, at design condition of -6C outside. 🪄 ✨
Dear @theguardian.com thanks for writing to me to let me know you are renewing your commitment to planet. Here's an idea to make a small difference: Every time you publish a travel article, include the associated carbon emissions per person. It doesn't have to be exact, but don't just ignore it.
Some will look outside at the hard frost and feel miserable about having to de-ice the car. I’m setting up for a day of steady state cop watching
Dear internet, I do hope you appreciate this pic of the moon, because I was electrocuted by the sheep fence I was leaning on immediately after taking it.
Time for the @bsky.app community to see one of my favorite visualizations of climate change... "Shifting Distribution of Land Temperature Anomalies" by svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/5211/ ⚒️🧪
Most people don’t know this. Heat pumps REDUCE gas consumption even if running 100% on electricity from a gas fired power plant. More here in my piece for @carbonbrief.org 👇 www.carbonbrief.org/factcheck-18...

Spot where I turned off my Vaillant's room sensor and corresponding 10% boost to efficiency. Have a vague recollection of playing with the setting towards the end of last heating season 🤦♂️ Idea: Need settings changes to post to a Github repo so I can track and comment on this stuff.
Warning to potential followers: It,s heating season (🥳) so I am likely to post graphs of heat pump performance rather than voicing real thoughts. @openenergymon.bsky.social
