So much of the AI stuff thrown at me is basically "X is dead - here's why you should mindlessly go all-in on Y". No thanks!

IDK who needs to hear this, but you shouldn't buy promises of utopian futures with abundance and UBI from dudes who spend a considerable fraction of their time figuring out how not to pay their taxes.
I don’t hate AI. For instance, I find the math behind it very interesting. But I can’t square the hype with the fact that it hasn’t meaningfully improved my life, or that of my family and friends, and has the potential to be hugely disruptive to society. That makes it “net negative” for me.
“We are here to build things that people want and build them well. In the AI bubble, we are pressured to build things nobody wants, poorly. Pop the bubble.” 🔥
The Bun rewrite as a subplot in Anthropic's campaign to end software engineering. Call me crazy, but I not want my vendors to be on a campaign to end software engineering. I believe that to be counter-productive. Does that make sense? raymyers.org/post/zig-cre...

I'll be at MicroConf Europe in Iceland this September, if anyone I know here wants to have a coffee and talk about bootstrapping, running a small software business, or anything else really. ☕
MicroConf Europe is almost sold out. Sept 21-23 in Reykjavik: 200+ bootstrapped SaaS founders, 30+ countries, and the hallway conversations you can't get anywhere else. At Harpa Concert Hall, right on the water. A handful of tickets left. 👇 microconf.com/europe
Just published a blog post about the new CSS Anchor Positioning API! ⚓ I’ve been learning about it over the past few weeks, and it’s friggin’ great, but it also took me a minute to really get the hang of it. My goal in this post is to share the most useful bits, so you can start using it today. 🔥
Getting Started with Anchor Positioning • Josh W. Comeau
For decades, one of the most notoriously-challenging problems on the web has been sticking one element to another element, for things like tooltips and nested menus. The CSSWG has decided to provide a...

"You're so arrogant to think AI-assisted writing is beneath you, it helps so many people write better". No. YOU are arrogant for assuming that *my time* isn't worth *your effort* of putting your own thoughts into words.
Even if you don't know or care about the Zig programming language, I'd still recommend you watch this interview with its creator, super inspiring. More than ever, I want to port STRICH to Zig. It looks like a great match for my domain. youtu.be/iqddnwKF8HQ?...

I am so, so tired of reading LLM-generated or LLM-assisted articles. Just say what you want to say, in your _own_ voice. It’s *always* better.

The silver lining here is that Safari alternatives on iOS are actively being worked on (status described as “research prototype”). I’m not sure I’ve seen any official confirmation of that up until now.

Hearbreaking. It’s all so f***ing depressing.
At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/
watching the tech industry burn out all the people i know who actually care about delivering things that aren’t perpetually broken, all at the altar of infinite velocity, is making me utterly utterly furious.
🚨 Cool Job Alert! Are you: - a front-end dev (Sass, Vanilla JS, React) - based in Austria / Vienna - ideally with some backend knowledge (Python, Django, APIs) - looking for work in a small, dedicated, remote team? Let's talk! (reposts for reach appreciated)
I am so looking forward to my first flight on an AI-built airplane. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/t... 😱🫠
🗡️ I am way more excited about the remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (announced today) than I am for Anthropic’s new Fable model. Am I even a productive member of society anymore…?
there is something so spiritually depressing about the assumed desire for these "cleaning up" photos to all have symmetrical framing and no distracting elements where everything is perfect and shiny all the time. anti-human
Some people are so incredibly opinionated, it's basically impossible to talk to them. Me: "you know, I kinda disagree on something you said earlier, and I'd like to ..." Him: "YOU CANNOT BUILD SERIOUS APPLICATIONS IN PYTHON!!!!1111!!!"
God-fucking damnit, if I hear the term "load-bearing" one more time... 😡
🖐️ Raise your hand if you had a modded PS2! I distinctly remember begging a friend, who was much more skilled with a soldering iron than I was, to install the modchip. I assisted with a razor to prevent soldering to the wrong pins.
No accounts. No logins. No day-one patch. No battle pass. No roadmap. Just the disc, the controller, and the game. We didn’t realize how good we had it.
