Higher Education. All of it. All around the world. Also: snark, sumo, Winnipeg Jets triumphalism and bitching about Toronto FC. I blog here: https://higheredstrategy.com/blog/ I podcast here: https://worlded.transistor.fm/

Atlantic Association of Universities just released their first peek at 2026-27 enrolments. International student numbers are down collectively by 18%. That's a $60 million hit to the region's universities - 2x the new money they recieved from governments in the last round of provincial budgets.

Concluding the meeting with the American delegation in the US two days ago, after receiving a tirade of threats from Trump officials, Ukraine's Budanov turned when leaving and said, "We are now going to burn every last Russian refinery and every last port to hell. All of it, down to the final one."

Thing that annoys Little Miss F1 more than anything else on earth: me telling her she is among my three favorite children. (I have two kids). And I can keep telling her this for the rest of my natural life. Years of amusement!

Tthis week's edition of the Fifteen! The web's best all-in-one-place overview of higher education developments around the world. Free tuition in Indonesia, bananapants surveys of female students in Belarus, and scads of fake degrees, universities and even Vice-chancellors all over the place. Enjoy.

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

In light of world events, I'm going to take a break from LOLing about BC politics here for second and say this in earnest: it is a genuine privilege to live in a place where a political leader shows contempt for the population by calling an election two years early, as opposed to never
