gah, this is the bit I hate - I never use AI products and very much go out of my way to never interact with anything produced by AI (I'm not even on Linkedin!) so it will....make me worse at weeding it out of my life in the future? I just want to opt out! why can't I be allowed to opt out!

My son asked why people would drop in unannounced (& be welcome) rather than calling in advance-in the family holiday home we’re in, where there’re family/acquaintances locally. We got some things we were looking for, but what stood out for me was the challenge of finding a coffee shop that was an actual shop, not an open space in a corridor. What blows my mind with AI is the people who are like "how could you possibly function without it?" To which I say, "you, YOU literally did until what like 3 years ago? Did it degrade your brain that fast that you can't figure out how to do the thing you trained for years and earned a PhD to do?"

Surely the solution here is just *don't use AI tools* for your writing and research and continue to do your writing and research in ALL the ways you were doing it before you started using AI instead of doing the work??

Very true. I feel happy with things that don’t have many views, because I got the value in writing and reflecting, and even if there’s a small number of people, that can mean that it’s been useful/interesting for specific people. But I do love looking at statistics… and trying to understand them.

Ooo, it’s one of those days when I look at my blog stats and discover that it’s suddenly gone up from 4 views for today, to 23! And wonder if this is because someone’s linked to it, or more random. Hard to tell when the number of visitors often gets updated later.

Today (yesterday) has been such an eventful day, in two parts, that it feels like two days have passed since Saturday. Though Saturday also felt like two days, so it appears I’ve had a four day weekend! #JulyJourney #Day36
