One of the teachers at archaeology field school is David George-Shongo, who's the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Seneca Nation of Indians. Yesterday he took them to the Seneca Iroquois National Museum to learn more about the oral history & culture of people whose land they are surveying

My son Julian is at an underwater archaeology field school on Lake Erie this month, & today learning to conduct side-scan sonar & sub-bottom profiler scans looking for submerged paleolandscapes. Here's a puzzling sub-bottom profile (hi-frequency) they found (shared with permission). Any guesses?..🏺⚒️

Not sure if everyone appreciates the difference. Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.

This resource, which was started by Matteo Collodel, is also fantastic: www.collodel.org/hesse/ -- Incidentally, I attende a luncheon at Wolfson College with Mary Hesse, on the occasion of her 80th birthday (I think Matteo may have been one of the invited guest there too). Her work is inspiring.
