🌟Shortlisted for the 2025 Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction🌟 Margaret Killjoy’s beautifully imagined coming-of-age fantasy explores acceptance, community, gender, power, & resistance through the story of a young trans protagonist who, with her coven, faces an unnerving threat to the natural world.

The Sapling Cage by Margaret Killjoy stands on a black shelf next to a small clear glass vase filled with an assortment of greenery that includes red berries, queen anne's lace, and a bit of blackberry vine."There are three basic ways of enacting your will upon the world. There is action, there are words, and there is magic. A witch worth her cloak is versed in all three."

This fall brings not just one but two exhibitions about Ursula and her work. In Portland, A Larger Reality: Ursula K. Le Guin opens October 31st at Oregon Contemporary. In London, The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K. Le Guin opens October 10th at the AA Gallery.

📣 This is why women from all walks of life are speaking out. We know scapegoating when we see it - and we will not stay silent. 🚫 We see rhetoric of ‘protecting women’ being used time and again to target minorities, and we won’t stand by and let marginalised people be attacked in our name.

“Because trans people are being targeted and scapegoated for their very existence.” - #WhyWeSigned

Keir Starmer’s new director of communications isn’t just the founder of Portland Communications – which represented Qatar, Russia and Kazakhstan – he’s also come straight from the board of the anti-trans charity Sex Matters. The government is heading in a dark direction.

Well, Yvette, maybe refugees are applying for family reunification as soon as they can because 1) they've spent ages waiting for status and miss their kids; 2) it takes ages for reunification applications to be approved; and 3) their kids are ineligible once they turn 18 www.gov.uk/government/s...

We need free speech, and gender-criticals have the right to express their views. But when does this expression become harassment, bullying or discrimination? Thanks to everyone who spoke to me for this piece, particularly the trans journalist and campaigner, who has been through a lot.

⚖️🏳️‍⚧️ When a journalist who writes and campaigns on trans rights caught the attention of a gender-critical barrister, her life was turned upside down. With her support, we’ve filed a complaint with the Bar Standards Board. https://goodlaw.social/blei
