We had hoped management would work with us to reach a deal on Monday, but they refused to compromise with our union. So today I’m on strike with my colleagues trying to fight for a fair disciplinary process, equal pay & protection against AI related layoffs. Stand with us by not sharing or reading

Al Shaw@shaw.al · 4mo agoIf you registered to come to the event today on how to use the ProPublica Trump disclosures News app, the @propublicaguild.org is asking y’all NOT TO ATTEND in support of our strike today. We hate to do this, but management isn’t offering us a fair deal.
I take no pleasure in saying that I and my @propublicaguild.org colleagues are on strike. It shouldn't have come to this and i can only hope that seeing the overwhelming majority of staff walk out today opens management's eyes and convinces them we're serious about our demands.

I love my job. I believe in ProPublica's mission. I have so much work to do today on a story that should publish soon. But today, I'm on strike with my colleagues at the @propublicaguild.org. Hoping we get over the finish line SOON on our very first contract -- and a fair one.

I hate that contract negotiations are not going better, but this is where we are. Today my colleagues and I @propublica.org are walking out. We need management to come to the table with more serious contract proposals that address our real concerns about discipline, job protections and fair wages.

It's simple — @propublica.org workers should not be replaced by artificial intelligence. Our contract proposal specifically says that generative artificial intelligence ("GAI") should not be used to replace employees. Management struck out this entire section in their response to our proposal.
