Regarding HWA, I'm not a member. (I'm a member of SFWA.) Any big-name org is supposed to protect your interests. It's supposed to safeguard your creative life. Provide resources. Forums. Tangible support. It's NOT supposed to back the ideology/entity that's threatening your livelihood.+

HWA is platforming righteousnessly entitled Pro-AI assholes and including them in their newsletters as they hawk their AI apps and programs and that's why you shouldn't support the HWA.

I am logged on for 2 hours to say I am appalled by what I read in the HWA newsletter. There are AI witch hunts ongoing where writers are being accused of using that garbage tech with no evidence. Telling ppl who use AI proudly to get out is not gatekeeping. Call out the writers and companies.

I'm just gonna say: it somewhat baffles me that people who are understandably skeptical of opaque LLMs as legitimate sources of information will suddenly go full on "the computer KNOWS" when they are using opaque tools to "detect" AI. The computer does not know.

There are white folk out there gleefully saying they use ai in research but not in prose and they don’t get pushback But let a new black writer write anything… This is about white folks thinking Black people aren’t intelligent, i need you to understand this

Real talk: August is always a hard month for me. Lots of death anniversaries. (Why is there no better word for this?) My mom’s. My aunt’s. Two out of three grandparents. If I’m a little more off kilter than usual, that’s why.
