OMB commenting period ends today. That's not the end of the fight. UNIONS will pick up where individuals left off and work together to sue the federal government. In my organizing, people constantly ask me what unions can do for higher ed. They can do this. And universities won't. So sign a card.

Spending most of June stateside and I am honestly enthusiastic to celebrate the 🇺🇸 people, even if I would never celebrate the nation/1776 at this specific moment. July 4 will be in 🇵🇪 though and the World Cup is for 🇧🇷, count me in for all of the Americas!

This moment doesn’t compare favorably to ‘Laudato Si’ (so far) and that - unfortunately for Leo - is a very natural comparison to make Time will tell about how the laity/grassroots receive this in comparison to LS

Pope Leo XIV presenting his encyclical on #AI together with Anthropic's Christopher Olah is comparable to Pope Leo XIII presenting his encyclical Rerum Novarum on capitalism together with Henry Ford

The New York Times is now parody of itself. Universities that focus on what we do in our day-to-day lives that resonates with people beyond ourselves? My dudes, have you ever been to a regional public university or any campus that isn't Harvard?

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com The problem on college campuses is not just that students lack civility, Michal Leibowitz writes, but that “our college education does almost nothing to develop the sense that what we do in our day-to-day lives resonates with people beyond ourselves.”

This institution, which is awesome and which I personally support as a board member of an affiliated org, is funded almost entirely by federal farm subsidies. You will be shocked to know that this does not make it into the NYT.

hold onto your wallet anytime someone claims a human behavior is ‘natural’ without defining what that means, but *clutch* it for ‘x is natural, y is not, therefore ban y.’ truly natural behaviors - eg walking, using language - don’t require incentives, far less coercion

the big lie of reactionary ideology is that its natural order of things requires massive coercion and constant policing to create and maintain while supposedly unnatural deviant behaviors keep spontaneously cropping up wherever control isnt total without violence their reified categories dissolve
