🧵I saw Musk yesterday. It is a good film. The high points for me were the emotional discussions with Musk's exes, Ashley St Clair and Justine Musk. Also, exposing some of the subsidy reward hacking that made Musk tons of money without really doing what the subsidies intended.

#ResistanceRoots Doris “Dorie” Miller was born on this day in 1919 in Waco, Texas. Because of his heroism during the attack on Pearl Harbor, he became the first African American recipient of the Navy Cross. His bravery spurred civil rights activists to push to desegregate the U.S. military. /1

Dorie Miller wearing his Navy Cross in May 1942. Miller’s extraordinary valor during the attack on Pearl Harbor forced a reluctant Navy to award him the Navy Cross. However, the myths and structural segregation that relegated Miller to the Messman Branch persisted after Dec. 7, 1941. Miller’s actions gave civil rights activists an undeniable symbol to fight for institutional equality. It took a coordinated campaign by activist networks to force the government’s hand. While the Navy tried to compartmentalize Miller’s award as an isolated exception — even keeping his rank restricted to the mess deck — the activist momentum could not be stopped. His visibility forced the Navy to begin opening up general service training to Black sailors and commissioning Black officers. Ultimately, the public discourse surrounding Miller’s valor laid the foundation for President Truman’s Executive Order 9981, desegregating the U.S. Armed Forces in 1948. If I were a Democrat in Congress I would say fifa paying Trump $4 million for an empty office “raises serious questions” but because I’m a normal American person I can just say FIFA is bribing the president of the United States

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day. A reminder that Columbus was a genocidal fascist and human trafficker, and deserves no honor or recognition. Instead, here's why now 30+ states have adopted recognition of Indigenous Peoples' Day,and why we need to make it all 50. www.qasimrashid.com/p/today-is-i...

Today Is Indigenous Peoples' Day

Christopher Columbus was a historical figure and genocidal monster who should be studied, not an icon to be honored

The Greens are a party of peace & non-violence. We stand with people in Australia & around the world calling for an end to this genocide. Permanent ceasefire. And end to occupied Palestine. Unconditional aid access. Prosecution of war crimes. An end to the two-way arms trade.

Operation Ajax. Which eventually led to the return of Kohmeini as the first Islamic leader. Oil once again being the driving force, the elected government wanted Iranian people to benefit from their oil reserves. Not foreign companies. And America viewed the socialist government as Communist.

Wait, wait, wait… Tell the whole story!! The CIA & MI6 fomented a coup in 1953 to overthrow a democratic government in Iran, & installed a brutal 🇺🇸 friendly dictator to get oil!!! That led straight to the Islamic revolution & hatred of 🇺🇸 in 1979. Iran wasn’t problem until 🇺🇸 & 🇬🇧 starting meddling!

Today, I traveled to the Panhandle to deliver supplies to families impacted by Hurricane Isaias. It was heartbreaking to see the destruction left behind. Special thank you to everyone who donated supplies, and to Gay Valimont and @avindman.bsky.social  — I appreciated working side by side.
