When people hear the word “car”, what they think is “privacy” and “not having to interact with strangers”. But the definition of living in a city is “interacting with strangers”. 🤔 Another great @thewaroncars.bsky.social podcast interview with @humantransit.bsky.social 👇

Air quality. I grew up in the Los Angeles basin in the 70s and 80s and remember having to stay inside because the smog was so bad - Stage 2 smog alerts, they were called. Apparently they haven't had one of those since 1988. Haven't had a stage one smog alert since 2003.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Stunning display of motornormativity here from the BBC. No, they are not "closing down streets" - if they were doing that they would be shut off from everyone. Rather, they are changing who is using the space. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Leeds: The city closing down streets so children can play
In Leeds, streets are being temporarily closed to traffic so kids have more space to safely play - an initiative proving beneficial to both children and adults.

“An urban firestorm occurs when a massive, high-intensity fire moves into a built environment, causing structures — rather than just vegetation — to become the primary fuel source. The Spokane firestorm is just the latest example of one of these most dangerous and destructive wildfires.”
Urban firestorms like the one that devastated Spokane Saturday have been growing more common because of increased development in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) and climate change. In this post, I document 9 such fires since 2016 in the U.S. yaleclimateconnections.org/2026/08/urba...

Breaking: Another victim, Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo, has died in ICE custody at Delaney Hall prison after being denied vital medication and family visits. Depriving sick detainees of care until they die is murder by neglect. We demand complete transparency and justice for Edwin! 🎥 Statuscoup
