I will say, if there's one advantage to working a job with a daily per diem, it's that I get motivated to try lots of different foods I might not have felt like trying previously, because I lose nothing.

Principles are a nice thing to have. But sometimes in life you can't afford to stick to them. Is it wrong of me to take a job, indirectly, "working for the enemy" as it were? On one hand, I'm taking money from them. On the other I'm giving them a valuable service. What if it's that, or go broke?
