The Wash. Post would like us to remember the pain of the concentration camp officers who are sad they can’t abduct and torture people anymore— because they got fired for being shitty cops. Story CW: suicide. Also CW the detainees dying/ taking their lives in despair not mentioned in this story.

Wash. Post headline “ICE is quietly firing new hires. For one recruit, it was devastating.”

Two CA professors and their teenaged son, held indefinitely in hellish conditions because of something the father's mother did before any of them were born. The US is refusing to even allow them to self-deport.

Today in @thenation.com: a harrowing piece written from inside the Dilley ICE detention center by Maryam Tahmasebi, a green card holder who's been locked up along with her husband and son for months despite none of them committing any crime. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

When someone who consistently does and says terrible things dies, it's helpful. It means that they can no longer do and say terrible things. It's a form of cleansing the world. That's a positive thing.

The fascist project potentially being brought to a stuttering halt because its biggest enablers are ancient, dust-filled windbags who die in office is possibly the funniest thing that could happen to this decrepit republic

The speed with which Greenidge lost EVERYTHING. The second half of the review raises serious citations questions, but the first half suggests a reviewer with a major axe to grind re: daring to question the sanctity of white women abolitionists. Scholars who have done far worse still kept their jobs.

The thing is, the NYT absolutely *does* participate in racially-motivated smear campaigns against Black scholars. The instigators of these campaigns are proudly open about both their racist intentions and how easily they get outlets like NYT to do their bidding www.nytimes.com/2026/07/10/b...
