The idea of Ferran Torres appearing on Kaitlan Collins' show is just absurd enough to get me to watch cable news for the first time in a non-election, non-emergency situation.

This World Cup took a lot from North America: countdowns; half-time show; championship rings; commercial breaks; dynamic pricing; $15 billion. But what did FIFA give the United States? Very little, besides a new status as a colony it will return to exploit again and again. Column @theguardian.com

In the US, the 2026 World Cup’s legacy will be an invitation to do it all again | Leander Schaerlaeckens

Fifa’s gargantuan revenue influx from the tournament, with little left over for locals, will beget more exploitation

Just as Lionel Messi lifted his first World Cup in 2022 wearing a traditional Arab cloak, Spain hoisted their country’s second title with a reminder of the host nation hanging on. Me, from last night: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Donald Trump has to let it linger as he hangs on for Spain’s World Cup celebrations

For the second time in as many years, the US president made sure he was a part of a moment of triumph he had little to do with
