Y'all nice and comfy over here? Everything dandy while a genocide is happening and Palestinians are being silenced?

I fell in love with anthropology through Thomas Hylland Eriksen's Small Places, Large Issues. European anthropology is poorer, sadder, and lonelier without Thomas. We shall remember him for the remarkable way he gave life - and anthropology - meaning. easaonline.org/news/eriksen

I wish fellow cis people would realize how interconnected the Right’s anti-trans ideology is to everything else. NOT TO MENTION Their anti-trans work is genocidal. People scoffed when I said this in 2022 but it is true. Speak up about it already ffs
Politico is reporting Trump will name Dr. Ladapo of Florida to a senior spot, likely Surgeon General or Assistant HHS. This would be a horrifying pick for trans people. He's responsible for Florida's adult trans ban, and works with SEGM/Anti-trans global movement. He's also an ardent anti-vaxxer.
Did you know that EASA - the European Association of Social Anthropologists - is on here too? Give us a follow @easainfo.bsky.social #anthropology

Reposting about #AcademicPrecarity: I had to turn down 2 requests for peer review, a PhD supervision, a postdoc supervision, and an invitation for a series of MA guest lectures. All bc of #precarity, with 3 months left in my contract and no job certainty in sight. #PrecarityHurts #LostOpportunities

"Again and again, they grumble and scoff (''Impact'? Ludicrous! 'Prevent Duty'? Nobody could take it seriously…'), and again and again, they roll over." This is very sobering and very, very good. It captures a key frustration I have w/ academia (cont.). 1/
