Chicago (and elsewhere)— We really, really need you to show up for this one. This amount of $ is a drop in the bucket for someone with means. A traumatized family is facing an emergency, and every second counts. We don't know where the detention pipeline could take this father next.

On Friday, CPD officials sat before Chicago’s Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Rights and assured alders that they didn’t need to investigate Border Patrol agent Charles Exum’s shooting of Marimar Martinez because the FBI was on it.

BREAKING NYT: Federal agents around the country were told in recent days that the FBI would no longer investigate confrontations with immigration agents — cases that sometimes yield evidence that could be used to prosecute DHS agents implicated in violent encounters.

In Chicago’s Little Village, locals are currently holding an evening rally and vigil for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, two fathers killed by ICE just six days away from each other.

Live posting from Albany Park today 85 degrees out and we’re at the ribbon cutting ceremony of the brand new Ronan park gateway. What is supposed to be a symbolic ceremony and celebration with music and neighbors gathering, it seems like the topic of the is the encampment behind the structure.

New: Chicago finance chair Pat Dowell has written to Mayor Brandon Johnson, saying a proposed ownership transfer of Chicago's privatized parking meter system to Stonepeak Partners doesn't have the necessary support to go forward. Stonepeak owns Omni Air, which conducts ICE deportation flights.

That hearing was an important opportunity to address
the concerns raised by members and provide the transparency necessary for the City Council to fulfill its legislative
responsibility. In addition to holding a public hearing, the committee solicited written questions and/or concerns from City
Council members and held briefings on this matter.
While I appreciate your administration's participation in the committee hearing, the testimony ultimately confirmed that
many of the central concerns raised by members remain unresolved. The City Council still has not received the legal and
financial analysis necessary to independently evaluate the proposed transfer, nor have members received satisfactory
answers regarding the timeline of the transaction and the administration's decision-making process.
Additionally, significant questions remain regarding Stonepeak's ownership structure, regulatory and legal history,
operational practices and the potential implications of this transfer for the City of Chicago as outlined in the June
11th Chicago City Council Position Letter to Stonepeak of which 15 alderpersons signed. These are fundamental
considerations for any legislative body asked to approve the transfer of a public asset of this magnitude. Based on my
colleagues’ feedback, the proposal has not secured the support necessary to advance from committee at this time.
As Chair of the Committee on Finance, I do not believe it is fiscally prudent for this matter to remain pending indefinitely.
The committee has fulfilled its responsibility to thoroughly examine this proposal, and it is now appropriate for members
to formally determine whether it should be recommended to the full City Council.
Accordingly, I intend to call the proposed transfer for a vote before the Committee on Finance on July 13, 2026.

Another update! The # of victims keeps rising and it will continue to do so as those trapped under the rubble run out of time That being said people on the ground have been incredibly resilient and haven’t really stopped after a week We are trusting our friends to distribute resources efficiently

Text says: thanks for donating, you’re making a difference

Just to keep all of you incredibly generous people up to speed. Some of the money is being used to directly support the “Rescatistas” —first responders, volunteers, & people digging up rubble—. They’ve been asking for coffee, water, and sugar as they work for hours.

Basket of supplies for first responders and volunteers with coffee, containers, cups, and candy

Thanks y’all!! We’ve reached the goal of $600, and the money has been sent to people on the ground supporting first responders and volunteers. I’ll leave the code up in case more people would like to donate. All this money is going directly to people on the ground helping families and victims.

I’m trying to raise a few hundred dollars to support mutual aid efforts in my home city after this week’s devastating earthquake. Feel free to reach out for more details!

also not lost on me that as democratic socialists are winning some elections, a new red scare targeting anarchists, antifascists, and their allies is digging in hard, and today handed down 30, 50, and 100 year prison sentences to activists and organizers

I am beyond proud of the devoted work our freelancers have been putting in these last few months. Realistically, we need many more monthly supporters to sustain their work long-term. Reporting and labor costs keep expanding. If you haven't yet, now is a great time to sign up:

The resident who shared the video, Edward Krueger, also provided a photo of the crashed red car. We arrived on scene hours later, after 2 pm. But signs of the collision were still evident.

Earlier today rapid responders reported federal agents detaining someone on Grace & Olcott in Chicago. A nearby resident got video of an unmarked SUV striking a red car at high speed in the residential area around 10:24 am. He then described seeing men in tactical vests on scene, one marked "ICE."

Happening now in Albany Park: Protesters are gathering in the corner of Kedzie and Lawrence to protest ICE’s increasing activity in Chicago. On Tuesday morning a man was was taken by federal agents by this intersection, sparking two days of protests and demonstrations.

Federal immigration agents are still swamping Chicagoland. Sightings in multiple city neighborhoods and in the suburbs today, with reports of at least three people being taken. "ICE is everywhere," the immigrant advocacy/rapid response group Hijos de Migrantes posted in an alert earlier today.

A list of reported ICE sightings and detainments from across the Chicago area, per Hijos de Migrantes.

Greg Bovino will speak at a white nationalist conference in Portugal tomorrow. He will share the stage with no fewer than five people who idolize Hitler, including one who joined a group created by two Nazi SS members. Another guy is a self-described racist who refers to women as "cockroaches."🧵

Disgraced former-CBP officer Greg Bovino sat for an interview this week with a blog in Europe that promotes white supremacy and he provided insights on how he came up his claim that 100 million "illegal" migrants are in the U.S. It's vibes. It's a number Bovino created based on his feelings. 1/4

During operations in Los Angeles, Chicago and Charlotte, the 100 million number came into focus. One facet we looked at was commuting times to work. To ensure commuting times are “good”, 15 to 20 percent of commuters must be removed from the commute. In Charlotte, there are approximately 153k commuters each day. Once we began Operation Charlotte’s Web, commuting times weren’t in the “good” category, they were in the “superlative” category. Estimates that 30+ percent of commuters were no longer commuting. That means 30+ percent were more than likely illegal aliens. That’s approximately ¼ of the commuters in Charlotte. That, yep, you guessed it, coincides nicely with the 100 million number (out of 420 million people in the United States, I say 100 million are illegal aliens). Same with children not attending school in Charlotte. 30+ percent of students were absent from class. These were of course illegal alien children or children of illegal aliens. That too coincides with ¼ of the population. Understanding what middle America looks like in terms of illegal aliens, coupled with firsthand knowledge of the border, all juxtaposed against my own and current research, leads me to understand that 100 million illegal aliens live in the United States. This includes visa overstays and all types of illegal aliens. Remember, the United States was the world’s illegal alien dumping ground for 4 years under puppet Biden.

There’s one thing that’s definitely not talked about enough when it comes to this conflict. It’s wild—although expected—how giant corporations still send ships staffed by workers into danger just to keep commerce flowing and quarterly profits up. As if workers were disposable.
