Getting back on social medias

Does anyone actually use their monitor as a speaker these days? The first thing I do when I get new hardware is to go into the settings and ban it from being a sound output/input. No Discord, I don't want you to switch my microphone to my PS5 controller every time I launch a game.

I love logging into my Steam library and seeing updates from old games. I saw updates from Eufloria recently too. It makes me so happy to see that these labours of love are still getting love.

I am mad at my calendar. I started buying the Cats in Space with Food calendar in 2018. Because it was silly. And it made me laugh every time I went into the kitchen. They are ridiculous. And they are joyful. Some lucky person got paid to make this silly art.

I'm still around! Realizing how much I've missed participating actively in the greater game dev community, hope to be more active here. Picking the brains of brilliant folks for a weekend has me feeling more optimistic about the future of our industry, even if we're currently in survival mode.

Every time I come here to post something, I scroll my feed first. Then I end so upset at the state of everything that I close the tab and sulk. I just wish things could be better for everyone. I never know what to say that's useful to add to the *hand waving*

It is SO satisfying when you retain a lawyer and they respond to sender on your behalf within minutes of you getting an email, saying that senders are basically being idiots. I feel validated.

I can't believe January is almost over. Between getting ill, dealing with legal shit from several provinces away, managing the kiddo's first high school exam season, it's been a rough start to the year. Still nothing compared to this time last year. Just trying to live moment to moment.

So happy to see Consume Me nommed by so many of the IGF juries! Congrats to that team, it's a game that really left an impact on me and I've been thinking about it since I played it. It's really an incredible treatment of a challenging issue.

And it's done. Insta and FB are deleted. Four years since I left Twitter. Thirteen since I left Livejournal. Always sad to leave what was once a happy, healthy community. But freeing to erase that digital footprint 😅

Now that IGF judging is up, I just gotta talk about the one I couldn't put down: Blue Prince. This just hit all the right buttons in my brain so I didn't want to stop playing. Just. One. More. Day. Another new room, puzzle, letter, mystery.

I love that my kiddo is FINALLY interested in watching the original Avatar series with me. And I've discovered my ear is still hyper tuned to Star Trek voices. I immediately IDed Sulu and Odo (twice) and we aren't even through season 1 yet.

Just finished the Fallout show and I personally LOVED it. Not only did it perfectly capture the joyful ultragore but also the creepy retrofuturism. The characters, the conspiracies, the insane amount of lore tie-ins. I geeked out so hard at the last episode. Fingers crossed for S2!

It's been a few years since I tried the franchise, but I'm really disappointed to discover that Just Dance on PS5 has done away with the Move controllers. AND that they delisted the digital versions on PS4.
