🚨 📰 🌊 🥼 💻 🧪 🧑‍🔬 New publication on future changes in ocean carbon cycling lead by Samar Khatiwala. We applied a new decomposition into preformed (saturation and disequilibrium) and regenerated (soft tissue and carbonate) components, which is more accurate that previous methods.

Let’s talk about recent warming rates and how they compare to other periods in the last 2000 years. It’s not even close. This graph shows temp change per 25 years. The last 2 periods, ending in 2025, are like nothing we’ve seen in the record. Humans have become an unnatural force of nature!.. 1/

Reminds me of the “Climate Club” idea suggested by Nordhaus, which is a treaty to reduce fossil fuels and tax imports from countries who are not members. Makes much more sense than the consensus-based approach by #UNFCCC, where action is blocked by petro states.
