👇 This is how many academics (especially as referees) read papers. So it’s worth keeping in mind when writing research articles. The key is to earn the reader’s attention after the abstract and intro and make them want to go deeper.

Even in the AI era, learning to quickly "read" an academic article is an essential skill. When I started grad school, I thought I had to read every word, in order, for every article I "read". I don’t do that anymore. Here’s how I "read" most academic articles:

Faszinierend, wie sich die Namensvielfalt gesteigert hat - vor allem bei den Buben. 1984 (fast mein Geburtsjahr) hatten fast 50% der Buben einen Namen aus den Top-10. Heute machen die Top-10 nur mehr knapp 15% aus. Andreas war in den 80ern natürlich ganz vorne dabei 😄.
