Gentle reminder for all that if you have books that are water damaged, crawling with bugs, physically broken, or giving you travel advice for a country that hasn’t existed since the 90s, you can safely throw them away, you don’t need to make them your local thrift store’s problem.

Book 23 of 2026: Biological War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobsen. I read The Hot Zone at a formative age, but this kicks that particular story up a notch by asking the question: what would happen if a biological weapon was unleashed on the world? The answer? Nothing good.

I get that Musk is always talking out of his ass when it comes to things like this, but I've been getting more and more perplexed at the idea that historical / scientific accuracy automatically equals a better story and that failure to perfectly capture the world is an unforgivable sin.
