Jane Austen used 'however' at the beginning of a sentence, and so can you.

Rewatching Instrument (1999), the Fugazi doc filmed from 88-98, and remembering that was the same ten year period that gave us the Battle of Brit Pop. Fugazi, Bikini Kill, Huggy Bear et al. were in a parallel world were art counted for more than a hollow aesthetic.

All three M3GAN universe films are fun well-made standalone stories that have a clear genre/premise and great casting. They use traditional cinematic language and score. They are the type of films we all say are missing from pop-movies, and yet no one cares without a meme.
I have no clue who needs to see this but start writing again.
Okay then, cheese-posting: my favourite growing up was to take cold/not-melted Red Leicester and eat it on piping hot toast.
It's funny, there aren't any high profile tantrums taking off about the Neuromancer trailer/adaptation because the Sprawl Trilogy is in practice cerebral and varied. You have to actually like reading, and most of the cry-o-sphere simply haven't read it.
While the M$DNC shitlib Odysseus was off fighting forever wars, his wife's suitors, who I do not support, were making Ithaca into the most progressive city in the Ionian Sea. by Glenn Greenwald
I genuinely appreciate the classics, it's fine, but William Gibson is more relevant to us than Homer. Just to throw out two names in the current news.
Still no opinion on the Odyssey film. Not seen the new film. Not a Nolan fanboy. Also wary of the people you meet for whom art begins and ends with certain classic texts, be it Homer or Shakespeare. For every Plato there's a Diogenes.
A brief #booksky 📚💙thread about *not* using LLMs for an indie book cover. You'll know the last post because it will be a photo of my friend holding a physical copy of my book Aertelis (pinned post) ...
Trivia: I grew up alternating between saying Suzy and the Banshees, and, 'sushi' and the Banshees, simply because I kept hearing other people say both and endlessly re-correcting myself. Also, saying words wrong you read first is normal, although I will say this...
BTW a trans lead in a cyberpunk show is the least controversial thing about that trailer. Literally the first scene of the first recognizable *cyberpunk* short story (Johnny Mnemonic) is like - there's a trans person, this is uncontroversial.

I'm a grump old dude on the other side of the world doing me own thing, but, check out @bookspotlight.bsky.social they do great work, have a ton of books to check out, and they run a Discord where you can meet people directly and get clued in. Indie writing should be like indie music.
POV, a literary agent in 2026: Who is the protagonist? Get straight to the dialogue plz.
There's a great maze of tunnels, a Labyrinth. It's like a great dark city, under the hill. Full of gold, and the swords of old heroes, and old crowns, and bones, and years, and silence.
It looks great, as far as a quick trailer goes. But the novel is in the noir style and unapologetically weird and introspective too. The Sprawl trilogy is disintegrating on my shelf, I re-read them all the time. Would love to see how they do Peter's big holo-show.

These are the very first paintings I made for Avatar Aang. I designed the art style for the ancient Sonam and Tagah scenes throughout the film!
Blade Runner show trailer is fine. So many people obviously think Cyberpunk is either the 2049 film or an aesthetic. Nope. It's pulpy, it started using the lit form of noir. Also, we can have both, consider the Dune films and show:
I'm never gonna let you all forget that I am, in fact, a canonical character in 2000AD magazine. You'll have to endure this from time to time, especially on days when I need the boost. 😁

Lucky Ep03: first time I've heard credits-roll music drop for a show like this where the song is actually good. Savages for the win.
100% and also, especially as it gets harder to check, if an author even associates themself with LLM APP how can we trust anything they do ever again? Integrity is everything to good art.
heard about a fantastic novella on npr this morning. too bad the author uses ai as an assistant and now that author is dead to me. if you’re a creative, don’t use ai. it’s built on the stolen works of your peers and probably your own if you published anything before. (yes, even on the internet.)
Crazy generational experiences that I took for granted at the time: saw prime Megadeth live on the Rust In Peace tour, and saw Diana Rigg play Medea at the Almeida Theatre.
