I used to think the 'First They Came' poem was quoted so often that it became a bit of a cliché. Now I think it needs to be printed on posters covering every wall, projected onto the HQs of newspapers and parliament, and stamped on the foreheads of those punching down instead of looking up.
I can understand the logic around arguing against independence. I obviously don’t agree with it, but I understand it. What I don’t think you can argue is that there should be no viable route for Scotland to decide its own future.

He’d win Clacton if he committed mass murder. North of England is the battleground for him and Reform come up way short. Gorton and Denton, Makerfield and even only winning Runcorn by six votes.
Still, lets drill Jackdaw and Rosebank so that Stephen Flynn might have an outside chance of holding Aberdeen South. Sound environmental policy.
In many ways, that eclipse was an awful lot like the Joker sequel. Filled with anticipation, awaiting an absolutely spectacular bit of output. Ultimately it got to the point where you had to accept that nothing enjoyable was going to happen and accept that it was absolutely fucking pish.
Not convinced this would play out. Feel like we’re back to pre-2014 where “Vote Labour to keep the Tories/Reform out” works at WM elections. As much as the SNP were in shambles in 2024, I think the message also played a part. Burnham, whatever you think of him, is also more plausible than Starmer.

The most Scottish Labour brained thing you’ll ever see. The SNP in absolute shambles for the previous few years, twenty years into government, and they couldn’t lay a glove on them. If anything, they’ve actually underplayed the disaster. If they couldn’t win that Holyrood election, when can they?

When you see people like Geoff Aberdein presented as a “commentator” and “former chief of staff to Alex Salmond” when talking about Rosebank and Jackdaw, you’ll almost never see the most crucial label, which is “lobbyist for multinational oil firms.”
It should never be forgotten that Rowling, Dalgety etc had shown who they were LONG before being radicalised on trans rights. They were accepted and, in many cases, applauded for their contribution by the self-proclaimed “reasonable” and “sensible” wing of unionism, while we were labelled extremists
