I used to think the 'First They Came' poem was quoted so often that it became a bit of a cliché. Now I think it needs to be printed on posters covering every wall, projected onto the HQs of newspapers and parliament, and stamped on the foreheads of those punching down instead of looking up.

Absolutely. And this is why it’s so mind bogglingly frustrating when people who experience one form of discrimination don’t show solidarity with others, but actively join in! As if their new found friends won’t turn on them next.
How shocking that a man who buys into the idea that transphobia isn't transphobia when it's framed as women's rights would also buy into the idea that racism isn't racism when it's framed as a problem with university recruitment. How do so many journalist bigots get away with being so fucking lazy?
'Of all the columns and commentary I’ve read questioning how we arrived at this situation there has been no racism. 'Indeed the overwhelming bulk has been reasonably expressed concern about the apparatus that had permitted such an absurd situation to develop.' www.heraldscotland.com/poli...
Just a thought, but is it perhaps time for a responsible news media to stop reporting the dribbling arseblurts of these fools? Seriously, this is on a par with “Bloke down the pub says it’s a well-known fact that there’s no actual evidence that smoking is bad for you.”
Not having Monica on the leadership ballot is such an own goal for Scottish Labour and the left.
Thank you to everyone who nominated me, volunteered and cheered me on. We didn’t make the ballot today but your voices still matter. Until we see meaningful and radical change, Scottish Labour remains stuck in the past. We are not listening to all of our members, the wider movement that…
Running the Scottish Half Marathon tomorrow 😱😰🫣 Please wish me luck - currently feeling like I might not even make it three quarters of the way! And if you would like to donate too, that would be greatly appreciated 🙌🏻 www.justgiving.com/fundraising/...
Nigel Farage suggests the police advised him against attending the result of the Clacton by-election. Essex Police completely deny this, telling the BBC "we have a proportionate and robust policing operation to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the count"
Scottish Labour could be down to 1 MSP and -50 in the polls, and some would still be telling the media we're on the up, this is fine, no need to change tactics, we're getting good feedback on the doorsteps.
Honestly, I used to stare directly at the sun loads as a child. I remember looking at it while on long car journeys, staring until it became a perfect orange circle. Dear reader, I now have glasses as thick as coke bottles and forehead lines from squinting all day long.
Not that it matters, but the man who the racist scum attacked on Saturday, paid for his visa and is here legally. Making an honest living unlike the grifting racists that profit from division www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow...
Glasgow delivery driver 'scared to go outside' after harrowing assault by racist mob
In an exclusive interview with Glasgow Live, Muhammad Jawad Yaqoob said: "I am Asian. My [skin] colour is brown. But we are human beings."

If you want to make our streets safer, tackle male violence. Take women seriously. Prosecute rapists. Educate our boys and men. Someone in my town was sitting on the grass with her 4yo daughter today, when two boys walked past and said ‘POV: a rape scene’.
Shabana Mahood's message about remaining as Home Secretary says "We have begun the work of major reform, to make our streets safer and our immigration system fair for all. Now let’s finish the job." No change.
Andy Burnham says his first instruction to officials, as Prime Minister, will be to "end rough sleeping in this country" "This will be the moment we bring back hope"
Does no lectern mean… no Hot Lectern Guy?! Not a good first step in winning over the gals n gays tbh.
Not saying I cried at that Bellingham goal, but my eyes are damp and apparently I’m doing my proud mum face. What a game! #ENGvFRA
Two MPs have been murderered in the last 10 years but Nigel Farage claims AGAIN to be the most attacked politician in modern times
I’ve just learnt that Richard Ayoade and Laurence Fox are brothers-in-law and it has blown my mind.
100% thought we were being nuked there until I heard the rain.
Well, that’s definitely it for us. But, isn’t it lovely seeing how happy the Ecuadorians are? They played a very good game and deserve their place.
I’m taking this energy (or lack thereof) to my next meeting where someone asks me for a list of updates.
Messi, asked which of his World Cup goals was his favorite: “I don’t know. I don’t remember. I’m tired.”
Managing social media for large publishers is hard, but hats off to @stv.news for limiting the comments on this post. The Facebook comments on posts from other publishers I've seen covering this story have been an utter bin fire of racism, islamophobia and hate. X is bad, Facebook is just as bad.
He could have used this to be graceful and uniting, but one of the first things he does is bring up division in the party and offend the left… Sums up his leadership really.
The attacks in Edinburgh, in which an armed bare-chested white man terrorised Muslims, leaving five people injured, don't feature on a single newspaper front page this morning. Two tier journalism
I thought they were playing Dirty Old Town during the hydration break there, but it turned out to be Take Me Home Country Roads. Similar songs, or just my bad hearing?
Is there an England World Cup song this year? I’m reminiscing about the glory days of Vindaloo, Three Lions obviously, and my personal favourite - We’re on the Ball by Ant and Dec. Best song ever written.
5yo: “Daddy it’s on the telly it can’t change. They can’t hear you.”
