I used to think the 'First They Came' poem was quoted so often that it became a bit of a cliché. Now I think it needs to be printed on posters covering every wall, projected onto the HQs of newspapers and parliament, and stamped on the foreheads of those punching down instead of looking up.
Absolutely. And this is why it’s so mind bogglingly frustrating when people who experience one form of discrimination don’t show solidarity with others, but actively join in! As if their new found friends won’t turn on them next.
How shocking that a man who buys into the idea that transphobia isn't transphobia when it's framed as women's rights would also buy into the idea that racism isn't racism when it's framed as a problem with university recruitment. How do so many journalist bigots get away with being so fucking lazy?

Just a thought, but is it perhaps time for a responsible news media to stop reporting the dribbling arseblurts of these fools? Seriously, this is on a par with “Bloke down the pub says it’s a well-known fact that there’s no actual evidence that smoking is bad for you.”

Managing social media for large publishers is hard, but hats off to @stv.news for limiting the comments on this post. The Facebook comments on posts from other publishers I've seen covering this story have been an utter bin fire of racism, islamophobia and hate. X is bad, Facebook is just as bad.
He could have used this to be graceful and uniting, but one of the first things he does is bring up division in the party and offend the left… Sums up his leadership really.
