Oh look, the UK govt isn't considering an enquiry that would expose multiple powerful members of the British establishment and business world as sex offenders and paedophiles whilst lifting the lid on all their friends in high places who turned a blind eye. #Epstein www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
The lack of meaningful action in the #Epstein case here and in the US is staggering. We all know what happened and yet just one person - a woman - is in jail (albeit deservedly). Our representatives are staring at known rapists, sex traffickers & paedophiles in positions of power and just shrugging.

Burnham not actively considering Epstein inquiry, No 10 says
It comes after the victims minister told the BBC she discussed an inquiry with the PM when she was re-appointed to her role.

The Field Marshal made it clear he shouldn't be at the vet, objected to being weighed, howled at the anal gland clearing & shouted a canine expletive when injected. When a thermometer was placed in his rear artillery, he turned around & bit me. Vet said it was fair enough. He is now resting. #FMJPC
This was the moment he realised he was going to the vet.
Good thread this. I read loads but it's all history, biographies and current affairs and stopped reading fiction many years ago when I just fell out of love with it. I'd love to start again. Hoping this list might re-engage me......
If you met someone who had fallen out of love with reading, and you had one shot at getting them back into it, what book would you give them? For a thing.
This was the moment he realised he was going to the vet.
Do not be fooled by the Field Marshal’s look of innocence Overnight, he vomited in the hallway, left a trail of explosive diarrhoea across the kitchen floor & then rolled in fox poo during his walk. He is going to the vet at 5pm. The howls of regret will be audible across the world. #FMJPC

Why is every Reform MP so unlikeable?
French forces held a fierce defensive perimeter around Dunkirk and lost 18,000 souls. 40,000 became POWs. Without their resolve we wouldn’t have our nation’s story. It’s estimated 20-60k French resistance fighters died during the war. These fuckers really are vile bastards 😡😡
This feels very much like a global case of boiling frog syndrome. Unless we get off our arses and act we are heading towards disaster.
Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
🧵UK media has been duped about net-zero (again) The playbook is identical: 1️⃣ Find a big scary number 2️⃣ Speed-dial non-specialist hacks 3️⃣ Do say “serious economic damage” 4️⃣ Don’t say “we pretended gas is free” 5️⃣ That's it! Many papers still fell for it 🤷
I’ve loved the US ever since I was a teen. My intro was studying US politics which I became obsessed with. And each visit I’ve loved the hospitality & people. But the America of Donald Trump is a different place. I hope that one day it comes back but the longer this goes on the harder it will be.
The Suffolk wildfire is now the size of 200 football pitches. The nearby nuclear power plant at Sizewell B is not under threat because the wind is blowing in the opposite direction. It's an important reminder that we are often just a chance event away from complete disaster.
This is utterly ridiculous.
NEW: Sir Jonathon Porritt, arrested under Terrorism law outside Westminster Magistrates Court. As police escorted him away he said "I am a supporter of Palestine Action, trying to save lives is not terrorism, exposing this Governments complicity in genocide is not terrorism." www.wedonotcomply.org
In a world that's already harder for women than it is for men, it sometimes feels that the challenge isn't just the patriarchy but other women.
It’s not big. It’s not clever. But I love it.
This is hilarious (obviously not the same clip, but edited perfectly)
And just to underline my middle aged status, I got the bike out at the weekend after a long time in storage whilst I've been working away from home. It's time for the MAMIL comeback.....
I'm about to turn 55 and have recently spent time catching up with lots of old friends, some of whom I haven't seen in 30+ years. I've been struck by how differently we all age. I won't comment on myself as I am in denial but it's reminder of how life is such a mix of chance, choices and genetics.

Like everyone else, I completely agree that this just isn't cricket and that Saltburn CC and the player need to be punished for cheating. If only they had instead cheated 115 times with their finances they would've been just fine. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...
Saltburn Cricket Club: Saltburn concede match in wake of 'finger-clicking' claim
Saltburn Cricket Club were placed under investigation by the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League earlier this week.

I was about to say the same thing. This is a bribe. Throw it back in his face.
BBC News - Fifa sets 19 September deadline to claim initial $20m as World Cup row boils over - BBC Sport www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba... It's called a bribe. This is like when Blatter was running FIFA but in the post truth 21st century you don't need Jack Warner from Jamaica running point for you.
The observations that Elon Musk's daughter has been able to make since childhood should act as a warning to everybody else.
A key indicator of over-reliance on AI: "Please look at this MASSIVE THING and get back to me with your thoughts." Next morning.... "Please find my observations & recommendations..." Hard to take these people seriously.
Agree with this. The FA should show some backbone and resign from FIFA.
FIFA knows that it's proposals will be voted through as the money on offer cant be turned down by the African and Caribbean countries, who hold massive voting power between them, the only answer is to pull out of FIFA, the English FA should show some balls and be the first to resign
Elon Musk and his fellow tech billionaires are probably one of the greatest threats that humanity faces.
Words cannot describe how much I despise this person’s contempt for how hard real scientists work It’s the kind of attitude you can only get from inheriting a fortune from an Apartheid era emerald mine finance.yahoo.com/sectors/heal...
It is such a shame that the characteristics that make you a billionaire are not the same ones that make you care about other people. If they were, the world would be a much better place for everyone.
