A summer break is also a time of pause and reflection. As the Buro of the EU Ambassadors in the world, we had an excellent meeting with EVP Henna Virkunnen last June (photo next). Less than three weeks ago she came out with 2 sets of binding specification measures which are legally binding. 1/2

@westervangaal.bsky.social’s reality check on so-called ‘coal comeback’. When I’m reminded, esp. by renewables opponents, ‘how important coal is for the EU’, I ask to keep the full picture. Renewables are our future, as part of a sustainable energy efficiency mix; coal resurgence is not realistic.

The UN General Assembly adopted resolution “Supporting lasting peace in Ukraine” with 107 ‘yes’, 12 ‘no’, 51 ‘abstentions’. Last year was 93, 15, 65.
