"I blocked him and then he blocked me and now I can't see what he's saying" - well no shit, that's kind of the idea of blocking  Why is it that the "I don't want solutions, I just want to be angry" people are all prospective members of Densa?

Warning: I'm in an absolutely filthy grumpy old man mood today and it's starting to leak out in my replies. And I'm not apologising for it. So if anyone feels called out, hail Satan, and please go do something anatomically improbable.

I find myself at a point where I really want to do an even longer, angrier, and grumpier rant/vent piece on W Social. Except I don't know where to start. Or how to write it "proper" instead of my usual stream-of-consciousness way of doing it. I guess I'm better at talking than writing, so...

I don't know what to make of the people moaning doom and gloom after Toni Schneider's interview the other day; what exactly is there to doom and gloom about? I honestly don't see it, or I'm just too dumb right now to get it. I seek Enlightenment!

Oh dear. Since that event seems to be the case for a lot of users, I guess W Social gets to have your PII for 7-14 days. Probably longer. Assuming a fair bit of vibe coding going on, potentially way longer. And maybe it won't just be them...

Correction per their privacy policy: if it doesn't immediately validate then the identity information is sent to their servers and stored for 7-14 days (I think it's 7). This is all hidden in their privacy policies

What do you mean nobody wants to join another walled garden social app with real name requirement through a half gigabyte closed source app with a "trust me bro" guarantee for handing over identification?

got a new thermal receipt printer? don't know what to do with it? try printing a live feed of the atproto firehose! you certainly won't regret printing a live feed of the atproto firehose

ANNOUNCEMENT: I’ve been working on putting together something between a retreat and a hackathon for #atproto builders for the past several weeks. I’ve been in discussion with potential funders and some funding has become available to make this a reality. now, I need your help!! KEEP READING 👇🏽

For those of you still on the fence about using Mu (mu.social) - companion pet is great. Sometimes it makes me stop angryposting! :D

If I may add: @jaoler.fi can tell you about deleting W account. If you’re looking for European alternatives, try @eurosky.social & their app @mu.social. MU offers Post Editing, Companion Pet & more 🙂 You can log into mu.social using your Bsky or any ATProto account without ID verification. More:

I'm not sure it's ATP's stain to be honest—it's simply a bad actor trying to co-opt the protocol and talk out of both sides of their mouth. I think the fault lies with wsocial for selling it as such.

Dearest #atproto peeps, if you want to be like, cool and stuff, and earn my eternal gratitude (and a beer if we ever meet in person), I'm looking for some real world usage metrics for the Bluesky reference PDS - mostly memory/cpu v.s. active users. Who has? Who shares? kthx!

Chalon sur Saone. Lovely town. Lovely festival going on too right now. Not so lovely? A bunch of chucklefucks with leaf blowers cleaning up at 05:00 in the morning. Not to mention the repeated passes of a street sweeper. I mean, I get having to clean up after the savages but not at this...

Urgh. Been working on something (for a while) that's getting close to being done but then you get to do that fun business thing of looking into fair pricing except with RAM prices being what they are, cloud instances have gone skyhigh, dedicated servers have gone absolutely into another galaxy...

This "vlizotrap" is a Dutch device traditionally used to manage population size. Once a year, usually in the summer, every Dutch person completes the challenge of using this extendable stepladder to fetch camping equipment from the attic. Those who are too old or unhandy die trying. #FolkloreFriday
