The facts in this piece astonished me. When it's windy, wind farms are paid to turn the turbines off to avoid overloading the grid. Last year, Britain paid almost £1.5 billion switching off wind turbines. By 2030 that's projected to be almost £4 billion per year. octopus.energy/blog/stop-wa...
