On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger delivered an order to finally enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing 250,000 enslaved Black Texans. 22 years after Juneteenth, on Aug. 15, 1887, that former slaves founded Eatonville – "the Town the Freedom Built.” Happy Juneteenth!

Charlottesville Barnes and Noble invited me to be their guest at a summer reading event on Saturday, June 20, at 1 p.m. I'll read VAMPIRINA BALLERINA and other books; and there'll be crafts and dancing and fun! Come on out!

A book cover of Vampirina Ballerina written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham. A young vampire in a black tutu and cape dances an arabesque between some tombstones, with bats flying around her.

Not sure I can get to 10 without veering into classical: The Police 2x The Go-gos 3x U2 Billy Joel Bruce Hornsby and the Range Journey Genesis Toto Flock of Seagulls INXS Muse I did it! Some of those were opening acts, but I'm counting them.

Last night, my agent got a scam email about me, asking if I would like to be featured in a book club. Authors have been getting these for months, but this is the first time I’ve heard of an agent getting one on behalf of a client.

Last week: pb revision to agent who sent to editors. Today: work-for-hire revision to editors (should be the end). This week: I get to start something new and fun. Publishing may be a mess, but I keep trying.

In one way, I don't want a 10-1 Virginia because I know that doesn't reflect reality of how Virginians break out politically. But we couldn't stay idle either. I'll keep hoping that after the census we'll be in a place where we can return to normalcy.

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than: Tesla Southwest Disney Live Nation HP United PayPal CVS Health Palantir Citigroup PG&E 3M That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax. It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.
