Wild Sweet Potato is blooming now. Also called Manroot and Man Of The Earth, it's a perennial vine that grows in woodland edges and roadside banks. It spreads and some patches have tons of flowers. It has an edible taproot but it's not the common sweet potato. #WildflowerWednesday #NativePlants
Yesterday was International Owl day. Here are some past rescues for owls who were struck by vehicles, had their nest tree cutdown, got caught in a chimney with no cap and bonus pictures of a falconry Barred Owl and a Eurasian Eagle Owl.

Susan asked if wildlife eat wild mushrooms. They do! I've seen squirrels and deer eat them in my yard. Bears, rabbits, turtles, snails, wild turkeys, and crows eat them too. These ruby mushrooms were in my yard this week and disappeared quickly. I bet they got eaten. #FungiFriday #fungifriends 📷🍄

The news is even better than I expected! Last week I dropped from Exceptional Drought to Extreme Drought. This week I dropped two categories to Moderate Drought! My garden is happy and it’s a mushroom paradise in the woods right now. 🌧️💙🍄

Raleigh has gotten more rain in July than came down in the first six months of this year combined. The drought data will be released tomorrow and we’ll see how much progress we’ve made. #drought

Today I saw two Monarchs in the same milkweed patch where I saw one last week. There were both yellow and black Swallowtails there too. 🦋
Our #fungifriends have woken up big time; I saw hundreds maybe thousands of them today. This is my favorite because I've never seen it before. Snow Fungus also called White Jelly Mushroom. What a beauty. 📷🍄
