Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars. OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

Every new AI image gen model that comes out is - to some degree - marketed as a tool that can be leveraged my professional artists. and *every time*, i want to be like oh, sweet baby girl, you don’t know that this is bad art. How cute that you think we would find this useful. *pats head*

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

Frustrated little dude gripping a pencil saying “how do I pack this down into something I can actually share?” While swirling rainbows labeled “INFINITE POTENTIAL” float around them. I work in tech and my job is constantly inundated with AI stuff. I’m also a comic book artist on the side. I have worked hard to approach AI with an open heart. I’ve tried dozens of tools. My takeaway is that AI is, at best, an idea or reference photo generator. It’s just not that useful.
