missed this post yesterday but this painting by Kent Monkman is so incredible. She is the perfect example of intergenerational indigenous resistance, and the many forms it takes. it’s so beautiful that they named the school for Wandering Spirit before she even knew she was a direct descendant.

Art by KENT MONKMAN (b. 1965), an interdisciplinary Cree visual artist. A member of ocêkwi sîpiy (Fisher River Cree Nation) in Treaty 5 Territory (Manitoba, Canada), he lives and works between New York City and Toronto.
