Konstantin Stanislavski‘s original conception of method acting was "when the character you’re playing is sad because his wife died think of a moment when you also felt sad" and now it’s "to play Jack the Ripper I too must murder half a dozen prostitutes and send menacing letters to the police"

Jeremy Strong went full method while filming ‘THE SOCIAL RECKONING,’ speaking only as Mark Zuckerberg throughout production. He also emailed Zuckerberg, saying he took the “responsibility very seriously” and the “veracity” of it seriously. (via GQ) #TheSocialReckoning #JeremyStrong

"Jumanji as malevolent entity" is one of my favorite pet topics, and honestly OP lays out the issues pretty clearly in the thread. Original Jumanji had a very particular indifference to the players that spoke to a sort of omnipotent, cosmic horror that later semi- and direct sequels did not.

It'll always annoy me how the sequels make Jumanji the game... progressively less and less mysterious, less dangerous, etc, and more a generic-ass power fantasy. Which, *textually,* in the first film, it's wholly not! Does this man look like a power fantasy to you?

i love yoshi's panepon because it's cutesy and pastel but then some of the characters say shit like this
