Many thanks to @aoir.bsky.social & @zemki.bsky.social for the opportunity to share my research on the UN’s Global Digital Compact at the #AoIR2025Symposium. I discussed how its approach to data flows/AI governance reflects data colonialism and sidelines Global South calls for digital sovereignty.

Our incredible #AoIR2025Symposium is almost over… We are grateful for the opportunity to host so many brilliant scholars who share our passion for researching platform governance, content moderation, and generative AI. Already looking forward to what comes next. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Proud to be part of the @aoir.bsky.social important conversation at the Flashpoint symposium. Asked to reflect on the concept of “platform governance” in 2025. In a nutshell, platform governance is, in my opinion, a pro-firm framing that has supported lack of regulation for the past 15-20 years.
