I dad, tell computers what to do, make music, take photos, and etc. Very Nerdy. On the spectrum. The internet was a mistake. Just say no to start-up culture and kneecap the Nazis. Close-source everything. https://1x.com/saltmountain

Letter: I am a registered Republican living in Provo and I want to thank Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson a thousand times over for not bending to the federal government, despite threats of prosecution. We desperately need more Republicans like her.

One day it will be like this. We just want that day to come much, much sooner by solving a software problem (how to make great synthetic data) with a software solution (rather than giant data centers).

A black-and-white photograph showing an open gate that leads, down a winding dirt road, to a run-down shack. On the upper-left is hero text that reads "And this is where they used to make LLMs". near the bottom-left corner is a watermark logo, with the words "Think small" written next to the logo for the company SmallMinds.

There's always that one guy... We make very small ML models that run very fast on CPUs and do useful things, and you can edit the models directly. You'd think the big brains in Silicon Valley would have thought of this. They did not.

A photograph showing a serene mountain landscape in the fall, with two horses in a large field and a small house on a gentle slope behind them. Text above and to the right of one horse says "Y'know Chester, we really could use some data centers out here." The horse on the left has text below and to its left that says "(oooh great. here we go again...)". There is a watermark logo near the top-center with the text "Think small" above the logo for the company SmallMinds.

SmallMinds makes machine learning models that do useful stuff. And people can read them and edit them if they don't do what the people want. It's the small things in life...

A photograph showing a cloud above a lone tree, on top of a hill. Text above the cloud reads "Hey SmallMinds, need any water for cooling?" Just above the tree there is text reading "Nah cloud, I'm good". Near the bottom-left of the image is a watermark logo, with text that reads "Think small" to the left of the logo for the company SmallMinds.

"Mom, when I grow up I'm gonna be rich! So rich, I'll have a gigantic private jet with twenty engines! But it won't fly, and it'll be filled with expensive GPUs!" -baby "ai" bro, probably

There are people in the world who read things like this and take the seriously. I feel very, very sorry for them, and for anyone whose job requires them to sit through such crap. No link, just an image so you know what monstrosity I'm talking about.

Image showing article header on Steve Yegge's blog, for the article entitled "The Shape of Things to Come, Part 1: The Continuous Thunderdome". Ick. Not linked because why would I torture people who read my posts.

tah-dah! Claude trained a little chat model in its little vm environment via the web ui (so not on my machine or any hardware on my end). Models training models, where will it end??!? And yes, I think "AI" is dumb but this is still kinda interesting. github.com/smallmindsco...

LOL... This showed up in my spam folder. The fun thing about it is this scenario basically guarantees that all the "frontier" model providers go bankrupt long before then.

Marketing email about an "AI" sector report showing demand for inference climbing from $102.6B in 2025 to $273.2B by 2035.

Russia is the first country to lose a battle entirely to robots. Zelenskyy: “For the first time in the war, an enemy position was captured entirely by ground robotic systems and drones. No infantry. A robot entered the most dangerous area instead of a soldier & captured it.”

Denmark's coal-to-wind transition is one of the most dramatic energy transformations of the past three decades. In 1990, coal provided 90% of Danish electricity. Today it is under 3%. Wind now covers roughly 60% of electricity generation. The last coal plant is scheduled to close by 2028.
