Some of what they’re calling for is valid. But the lack of any fresh commitments, direction or self-reflection at the provincial level - with literally every policy section segueing from patting themselves on the back to demanding something from Ottawa - verges on self-parody.

I’m always reluctant to directly attribute any one weather event to climate change. But Canada’s current fossil-fuel boosterism does hit a bit harder while considering whether we have to keep our 6-year-old home from the baseball camp he’s been excited about, because of potential record heat.

I would’ve loved Canada to advance and I would’ve liked Mexico to do so, but I’ll settle for the U.S. making a worse account of itself than either.
I’m about 85% sure the Alberta-Ontario pipeline thing is too half-baked and too unsupported by anything resembling economics to be worth getting worked up about. It’d be 100% if I were fully confident that *any* pipeline proposal is incapable of taking on a life of its own at the moment.
Timely, since in a span of four days we’ve seen a would-be privately funded west-coast pipeline turn into a publicly funded one, and a pitch for a new Alberta-Ontario pipeline *start* from the premise that it might be publicly funded.
