Found this gate in York. It had a standard lock, plus a padlock and a chain holding it shut. It was very very securely closed. The only thing on the other side is a blank wall. The only conclusion I can make is that this is a magic portal to hell.

I’ve been writing, in Inky, a little game about archaeological ethics in practice. I’m not sure that it will ever be FOR anything, but it’s helping me to get back into thinking about what parts of my research are actually interesting to me.

If you put your ethical arguments behind a paywall, I already know I’m not going to be convinced by your arguments.

Well, shit. Looks like I do still care about archaeological and heritage sector ethics. Sure would be nice if someone would employ me to care about it professionally again.

Use and reuse results in material changes, but also results in preservation. This is so important to impart to visitors to historic structures, who can easily get caught up in a game of “how authentic is this.”
