Marianne & I are deeply grateful to the good people of The Pipeline for giving us space to voice our views over what has been happening behind the scenes at the EAA. Please do give it a watch/listen and share widely - we feel it's important as many people as possible know the full story 🙏🏼

.@zenakamash.bsky.social has been a breath of fresh air in an association that is increasingly serving a genocidal state and acting against European #archaeologists. I’m very angry about what is happening, and I hope the boycott succeeds. You have until May 15 for a full refund. #EAA #archaeology
It is with deep sadness that Dr Marianne Moen and I resigned our positions as Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Archaeology this morning. What follows is the letter we sent to the EAA's executive board, outlining the reasons for our resignation 1/n

So, sorry but not enough… my boycott stands. Because even with the current actions, there will be no actual consequences to the damage made, nor reparations for those who suffered this most. NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY (even a fake one).
Agreed with what Jaime says in this thread. As a member of the association, I felt personally targeted and that my rights were compromised.
Yesterday I was busy and could not read carefully the results of the @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social SM vote and minutes. While happy to see the high participation and support to our petition, is it that difficult to apologise? 🧵 ->
Democracy works in very straightforward ways. The EAA membership has voted with their conscience, and the results speak for themselves. Since the breakdown of the vote was stealthily included within an updated version of the Special Meeting Minutes, see the graph here for specific details:
Since the #EAA has buried the voting results deep in an email attachment, here they are:
The EAA votes are out The great majority of our archaeological community has voted in favour of the petitions raised by #concernedEAA. We asked for a democratic process, we asked for accountability, and for the need to acknowledge the horrific genocidal policy of Israel against Gaza.
The announced plans to address the results of the vote kick the ball down the road of an undetermined timeline and a vaguely defined taskforce. Shouldn’t the voices of a majority of members be taken into account promptly, and in any case prior to the Athens meeting?
These are the results of the per rollam vote following the Extraordinary Meeting of the #EAA. The outcome is overwhelming, with a very high level of participation. What will the Executive Board do now? There are some motions that should be implemented immediately. #SavetheEAA #archaeology

🚨EAA per rollam vote results🚨 For anyone who doesn't want to trawl through a long document to find the results, I've compiled them here. Well done to everyone who voted for demonstrating strongly and clearly that change is needed 👏🏼👏🏼
While we wait for the results of the vote at the @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social SM last month, movement continues… the ΣΕΑ (association of Greek archaeologists) withdraws from the organising committee of Athens 2026 for the actions of the ExB. archaeol.gr/anoichti-epi...

Important thread from Jaime about why it is critical to vote in this round of per rollam voting. We deserve an EAA that is fit for us--its members--and the challenging world in which we all live
So, if you are an @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social (EAA) member from 2025-2026, you received yesterday your email for the per-rollam vote of the past Special Meeting and the documentation attached to it… if you still doubt what to vote, please read all the documents. My short digest:
This thread from jaime lays out the stakes well for those of us grappling with the present and possible futures of the EAA
