"Sure, the creator of the M64 is a weapons manufacturer that deals in death and profits off the suffering of millions in war-torn lands. But I don't really do politics, so pick whichever N64 clone you prefer. You can't go wrong." Delete your channel.

Really sucks that Deltarune is arguably the most successful indie game of all time, yet its music is not owned by the man who composed it, and is instead policed by a bunch of weird companies that go against his wishes and demonetize or even steal monetization from random streams and videos.

I definitely agree most "ports" are just shitty wrappers for emulators with an imgui slapped on top, but truly good ports like Dusklight show what's possible when the creators take their time and deliver something made with human hands. If you haven't, give it a try. The modding browser is bonkers.

There's a built-in modding browser. With nothing but a controller and a few clicks of the A Button you can install a multiplayer mod, randomizer, and play online with your friends at uncapped FPS. Could a Dolphin fork eventually facilitate something like this? Maybe. But a native port is simpler.

I'm seeing a lot of folks critiquing the current wave of AI slop recomps and saying "We don't even need ports, we have emulators." I want to push back against that a bit. Sure, a sloppy port is worse than an emulator, but something like Dusklight is undeniably better than Dolphin.
