Well done to Deidre Haskell, @archernikov.bsky.social, and others who have resigned en masse from the profit-oriented Mathematical Logic Quarterly and founded a new diamond open-access journal ZML! Academics have the upper hand over commercial publishers, when they decide to flex their muscles.

I'm excited to join the editorial board of a new diamond open access journal in mathematical logic: ZML: Zeitschrift für Mathematische Logik und Grundlagen der Mathematik zml.international The open letter of the editors of ZML can be found online on the webpage.

Here I am! What's going on at BlueSky? I'm interested in all things infinite, including especially math and philosophy and the interaction of math and philosophy. Please point me toward what's going on here. Meanwhile, for your enjoyment here is a picture I made of the first few surreal numbers...

It feels a bit strange having a completely empty profile page, so here's an introductory post to say that I'm only an occasional contributor to Twitter, but my plan now is to cross post here and see how things go, both for me personally and for the two sites as a whole. 1/4

I'm writing a math paper for an invited volume with a timed deadline (already overdue, of course), this is very stressful! How do you all do it in computer science and other subjects and not loose sleep?

From the Wikipedia entry on Frank Ramsey: In 1923, Ramsey was befriended by Geoffrey and Margaret Pyke, then on the point of founding the Malting House School in Cambridge; the Pykes took Ramsey into their family, taking him on holiday and asking him to be the godfather of their young son.

I gave a short informal interview while visiting University of Münster last month: youtu.be/UJazzknGBqQ?... Simone and I discuss some history of mathematical logic and model theory, a recent active directions connecting model theory and combinatorics, and some exciting future directions!
