Having serious FOMO about chasing 4014 on the Reading and Northern today while I sit here at work. What I’d give for someone to get a drone shot of it taking the curve at Mud Run. If I ever buy a drone, that’s the first place I’m taking it
Baldwin 26 charges up its train after a difficult morning. 6/28/26 - on this day the air compressor on 26 was overheating which delayed it’s start. Also, a piece of rolling stock went on the ground (everything was mostly fine, it just took some time to fix the rail that was the culprit)
Reading & Northern 2102 sits idle in Nesquehoning after completing the more than 160 mile round trip to Tunkhannock. 12 hours of fun on the rails today. I couldn’t be happier
Reading and Northern 2102 crosses the Lehigh River at Jim Thorpe in route to Nesquehoning 6/27/26
I really like the sounds coming from Reading 2102 when it works. Stack talk might be my favorite sound on Earth. This was filmed on the way to Tunkhannock 6/27/26
Reading 2102 pushes our train back into Tunkhannock for re-boarding. 6/27/26
I came to Tunkhannock on the train, I stayed because of the cars
Reading 2102 running through the rain with fantastic scenery 6/27/26
Reading 2102 crosses the Lehigh River and the NS Lehigh Line in Jim Thorpe on the way to Tunkhannock 6/27/26
The crew loads up as 2102 sits idle, awaiting its trip from Nesquehoning to Tunkhannock today.
As posted by @railroadraccoon.bsky.social over on the other platform the other day, Amtrak is sending a legacy Acela trainset (minus the power cars) up to Hornell for Alstom to explore refurbishing for reuse. It's important to note that there's no guarantee the coaches will be reusable...
Holy shit, I was able to get unobstructed views of them.
Here’s 5 pictures from this weekend that I quite enjoy. Can’t wait to get home and get to editing a video
NS1776 pulls onto the turntable at Steamtown NHS for display 6/15/26
They’re multiplying (UP4014 and 4012 at Steamtown) 6/15/26
I’ll take some pics of the static display of UP4014 at Steamtown tomorrow, but the meat of the fun is over. What an incredible weekend. The sense of community and camaraderie with other rail fans chasing was great. Everyone around me was respectful and kind and as a result, we all had so much fun.
UP4014 and Baldwin 26 photo runby in Scranton. I believe 26 is sporting UP4012’s whistle. 6/14/26
UP4014 arrives at Steamtown NHS and backs across Bridge 60 in Scranton
UP4014 and Reading 2102 side by side on the way to Pittston. 6/14/26
PI-JT finally departs Nesquehoning Junction in the background while UP4014 sits idle, waiting for it’s turn up the grade to Nesquehoning Station 6/13/26
