My barber's trainee asked about my amulet of Talos today and I told him it was from a game called Skyrim and he asked if it was a very old game... The barbers supposed to be a safe space kid why would you attack me like that 🥲

Giving a World Cup to Spain for standing on business on the World stage while most of the western world failed humanity does feels right. Go Spain! 🇪🇦
Very few (close to zero) career gamedevs realistically get to choose what games they end up working on. Working on a cool and/or successful game is not an inherent reflection of the skills of the individual in question.
If you go into any Elder Scrolls Online community today; you'll observe people being genuienly sad about seeing their devs being let go. And its not a "Oh no the game" sadness but actual feels for the devs, the people, themselves. That is the unique bond the ZOS team has built over the years.
We didn’t even get to announce the newest episode of the podcast this morning before the news of layoffs at Xbox, so in an unprecedented event there are actually 2 new episodes available less than 24hr apart…with VERY different vibes. Available now on your podcatcher of choice
Announcing massive layoffs and a goal to reach one billion users in the same memo is just the ultimate bad vibes move. Earnest or not, no one sees that prospect as an exciting challenge to overcome. It looks like you’re being prepped for some Amazon-style piss in a bottle workloads.
Working in games means learning one lesson over and over. You can do everything right… and still end up updating your LinkedIn.
I keep coming back to this. You can put out whatever statement you want about layoffs... make it seem like you MUST do this... no one's gonna believe that crap anyway. But when you say 1B DAU, you remove all pretense of credibility. This isn't believable. It isn't feasible. It isn't sane.
A billion DAU? Yeaaaah. Tell me you don’t know anything about video games without telling me you don’t know anything about video games.
I am struggling to process the mental load of this forsaken timeline that we've been in for the last few years...
60% drop in reviews if people even smell AI on your game - full supports the investors, developers, and publishers that took a hard "no gen-AI" stance, despite grifters' proclamations that they were "going to be left behind".
Someone actually crunched the numbers, and using GenAI can decrease reviews for indie game on Steam (a useful proxy stat for sales) by as much as *58%* 🤖
The thing I am most upset about Destiny is that we never got a storyline with LORD SHAXX as our NPC character focus, and now the storyline is over... Bungie I'll never forgive you for this. :(
Rami giving us extended Destiny lore lessons while patiently waiting for us to get through jumping puzzles as we repeatedly fail in the most wonky ways... good times.🧡
This was always my favorite thing about @destinythegame.bungie.net - taking groups of new folks along from their first steps to being able to lead their own raid groups, or to help me teach the raids to new new groups.
Press asked me how I feel about DLSS5 and I had not realized how pissed I am about DLSS5.
Seeing people claim those DLSS 5 slops look "objectively better" ...

The Slop Filter, because why would we want any soul, artistry or style in our games, right? What a trash...
We've brought back our "zoomer" screenshot tool and loaded up a range of DLSS 5 on/off comparisons from a range of games. Check it out: www.digitalfoundry.net/features/nvi...

Nooo, not Reboot :( I've only gotten to attend once and it was the best gamedev event... I had already planned the next 3 years to attend too. I hope the industry finds a way to help Damira and Reboot.

It's almost time for Ramadan, as Muslims tonight peered to the crescent moon to see if the month of Ramadan starts tonight or the day after. As with every year, I'm starting this thread so that people can ask questions, and learn about Ramadan from one person's perspective of it.
It's time for Cyberstan to pay for Malevelon Creek...
On the "what we've been dealing with this time as the Turkish games industry" news: www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...
Turkish government proposes legislation that would throttle Steam and other gaming platforms into unusability if they don't comply with demands for company data and content removal
Companies that fail to deliver their information within five days would face escalating fines and up to 90% bandwidth restriction.

Leaving 2025 properly behind and starting 2026 with the traditional UESP calendar and yet another amazing package of arts and goods from @uesp.net To another 30 years, friends. Let lore be your armor! 🧡
Have I neglected my projects and streams in 2025? Yes. Have I instead recovered from several injuries and chronic pain, and got in the best shape of my life at 32? Also yes. And now its time to get back to it all and cook in 2026.
