Walking home from food truck fundraiser for the rose garden down the street. Reminds me why we moved here. A couple hundred people, mostly young kids & their parents, hanging out, listening to music, and letting the toddlers dance. It’s been 18 years of a real community. Towns fucking matter.

Gandalf (left) and Frances were taken Outside on harnesses for the first time today. They aren’t sure about harnesses, but they are very excited about Outside. Especially Frances. She keeps jumping on the sill and meowing insistently.

Porchfest Montclair. “You’re in the jungle, babe!” from the back porch of a multimillion dollar house. Best so far was INDEYEVID doing a great 40 minute punk set on basically a 4’x12’ front porch. Seriously, thanks to all the hosts.

Bought a used car for one of the twins today, and picked up dinner near the dealer from a Szechuan place that used to have a location near us. Forgot how spicy Chicken Ding can be. And their dumplings are superb. Chengdu 1 Palace is almost as good as Chengdu 2 & Chengdu 23.

#Bruce #Springsteen Bruce really brings it. Shows are 3 hours (shortest of the 8 tours I’ve seen) but it’s powerful and doesn’t let up. The man is 76 and doesn’t stop for 3 damn hours, and he’s righteously pissed off. I needed the inspiration.

This is what led to my becoming a runner. My commute at the time involved 2-3 miles a day of walking to/from trains & office. COVID hit, put on 20 pounds, cabin fever, went for a walk. Did it the next day. Kept it up. By December was running 35 miles a week. Kept it up since then. Changed my life.

When I stopped walking (only for like 20mins each day) as part of my commute in early 2020, I gained nearly 40 pounds in the span of like 2 to 3 months Walking burns a ton of calories

Local schools are off this week for Spring Break. Get to my train station and had to check it wasn’t a holiday or something. Maybe 1/3 the normal crowd, if that. Did everyone in my town just decide to take a “sick” day?

Back from my local No Kings Protest. My “Flip Me Off If You Support The Pedo Pres” sign was a hit, and you could see the rage on the handful of folks towards whom it was aimed. Only one guy was smart enough to just give a thumbs down.
