It was 10 degrees cooler yesterday than the last two days of 36c and somehow the house had stored all that warmth, so coming back after drinks in the evening we were just blasted by the most foul heat opening the door 😩

as predicted! There will be literally no point in anyone installing UE6 I would say "unless they roll back the AI and Verse shit", but that's the whole thing. We're only 8 versions into UE5, UE4 got to 27. UE6 is illegitimate, it's not anything *but* a product of ai psychosis

In like an hour and a half the State Of Unreal thing is going to happen. It will have some cool stuff and some dogshit stuff that totally dwarfs the cool stuff. Someone will say really stupid shit about AI, the "metaverse", UEFN, plans to make the world worse will be announced... avert your eyes tbh

all of the UE6 stuff is really exciting news if your idea of a videogame is turning it into shitty Roblox-core slurry for Fortnite otherwise it's a pretty catastrophic misreading of the room, after indies successfully jumping ship from unity with the promise you actually care about developers

UE6 deprecating Blueprints really is a fucking dumb move. It’s been a core skill for designers using the engine for the last 10+ years. No one is currently using Verse for full production and training everyone up is going to be time consuming and costly. Just really stupid

I’ve been dying to get a Steam Deck, but I’m glad I held out for this thing because the ergonomic grips make it sooo comfy. Also I’ll be installing Bazzite on it, so best of both worlds 😊

Clipping Tool! If you've ever used a classic level editor, you've used something like this. Cuts through stuff (multiple meshes or just the selected face(s) of a mesh). Once again, dynamic mesh operators are the real winner here. Super fun to play with. (3/6)

Mirror Tool! I created a new "drag out a line" mechanic that acts as the mirror plane. You can manipulate the points or drag the whole mirror around. What I love about the mirror dynamic mesh operator in UE is you can have merge the meshes together along the mirror line. (2/6)
