In 1984 the National Union of Mineworkers went on strike. In 2001, Artangel commissioned Jeremy Deller to produce The Battle of Orgreave, a spectacular re-enactment of what happened that day. Captured on film, the work is currently on show at Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen in Germany until October.

Earlier this month we returned to Yto Barrada’s The Mothership in Tangier with a group of our supporters, known as Angels.⁠ Founded with the support of Artangel, The Mothership is a dye house that revives indigenous traditions and encourages experimental artistic practices.

Last month, Abi Palmer Invents The Weather: Rain 🌧️ screened in Seoul for EMAP, an open-air international media art festival. In this four-part film series, artist Abi Palmer performs the outside world for her indoor cats Cha-U-Kao and Lola Lola. Commissioned and produced by Artangel in 2023.
